4-H Exchange Club

The Larimer County 4-H Exchange Program is an opportunity for youth to participate in a series of learning experiences in which individuals visit in the homes of 4-H members in other geographical areas and are visited by them in return. Counties usually host a group one year and return to visit the homes of their guests the following year. The Larimer County 4-H Exchange Program is an opportunity for youth to:

  • Gain a deeper insight into one’s own values
  • Increase understanding and appreciation of others’ heritage, customs, and cultural factors
  • Foster the development of initiative, independence, and leadership skills
  • Create new, and perhaps, lasting friendships
  • Expand 4-H understanding beyond local community or county and share information learned to strengthen local 4-H clubs and activities
  • Become involved in another community

Current 4-H members: contact Jenny Broda at if you are interested in joining! If you are not a current 4-H member and are interested in joining, your first step is to join 4-H. Contact us at 970-498-6000 if you have questions or need assistance.

2019 – 2021 Exchange Club

During the 2019-2021 Exchange Club two-year cycle, our club partnered with Kittson County, Minnesota. Unfortunately, due to travel restrictions, members were unable to travel to Minnesota nor host the Kittson County members. As an alternative, our club members came up with the creative idea of a “virtual exchange.”

Larimer County Exchange Club members met virtually with the Kittson County club several times, members developed relationships with Kittson county members through emails and phone calls outside of group meetings, and Larimer County Exchange Club members went on three different field trips as a group which they documented with photos and notes to share a bit of Colorado with their Exchange partners. Check out their presentation below!

Interested in joining Exchange Club? The next two-year cycle is about to begin. This is a great time to join because we are currently identifying which county we will partner with in another state, and current members get to vote on who we partner with! Exchange club members fundraise throughout the year to cover the costs of travel and hosting through events like the Exchange Club Auction & Dinner in February and then plan to host their exchange club partner club here in Larimer County this year. Next year, our members will get to travel to their partner club’s county. Exchange Club is a great opportunity to learn more about yourself, create new & lasting friendships, learn about & appreciate different customs & heritage, and explore the broader 4-H community across the country.
